Descriptions of Diocesan Committees
Executive Council
The Executive Council shall exercise the powers of the Convention, between the meetings thereof; shall supervise the temporal affairs of the Cathedral of the Diocese; shall be responsible for the program and budget of the Diocese; and shall perform such other duties as may be committed to it by the Convention. It shall also have the power to initiate and develop such new work, between meetings of the Convention, as it may deem necessary or to the best interests of the Diocese, subject, however, to the provisions of the Constitution and Canons of the Diocese and other directions of the Convention. Three-year term.
Standing Committee
The Standing Committee serves as a council of advice to the bishop; approves various stages for people in the process toward ordination; considers requests from parishes to sell or encumber property; in the absence of a bishop, serves as ecclesiastical authority. Must be at least 24 years old and a confirmed communicant for at least three years. Three-year term.
Board of Trustees
It shall be the duty of the Board to be the Bishop's principal advisors in the investment and management of the capital funds and assets of the Diocese. Six-year term.
Disciplinary Board
Members of the Board must be canonically and geographically resident within the Diocese. Three-year term.
Sewanee Board
Represents the Diocese of Arkansas on the Board of the University of the South. Three-year term.
